Processor incorporated

December 2022
ceramics, stainless steel, cabbage

Tucked away neatly in the innards of our bodies, a processor, a highly efficient, relentless worker, deals with turbulent bubbling and persistent shapeshifting.

This incredible machine, the digestive system, operates constantly. It feels the ingested matter thoroughly, breaks it apart, and transforms it into a consistent output, regardless of the gruelling problems it might face. In case of a disaster, there is a solution: eating sauerkraut.

“Processor Incorporated” consists of a ceramic fermentation pot built by connecting two hip-shaped clay casts. The fermentation pot contains fresh sauerkraut that has been fermenting (processing) throughout the entire duration of the exhibition. The processor (fermentation pot) is on a stainless steel trolley accompanied by a shelving system which supports 23 hand-shaped bowls.

On December 9th at 17:15, 22 guests were offered to taste the sauerkraut during a performance of “Transplanting”.

Transplanting” is a participatory performance where visitors can taste the sauerkraut fermented in the processor. Through consuming the sauerkraut, the audience ingests information that will be later transformed /transplanted/ into their own bodies through the digestive process.
